I met Hon’ble Union Minister of Social Justice Shri BL Verma ji and discussed about the formation of Social Work Council of India and gave my representation as Dean & Head to the Hon'ble Minister on the importance of Social Work Council of India and how the social work profession can be taken forward in India. Hon’ble Minister assured me that he will see it.

I had the privilege & honour of attending the UN World Summit on Social Development in Doha 2025, and I'm still pinching myself! This is a historic moment that will shape the future of our world. For me, it's a lifetime moment, witnessing global leaders come together to drive positive change. The energy, the passion, and the commitment to creating a better world for all - truly inspiring! We DSSW, (Department of Social Work), University of Delhi successfully celebrated 80th ANNUAL DAY. As Head of the Department, I thank you all my faculty members, non-teaching staffs, research scholars, students, alumni association, field work agencies, University administration, engineering department to work together as a team and make this historic day a grand success and memorable 🙏

We celebrated 135th Dr B R Ambedkar Jayanti at our DSSW and we unveiled the statue of: 1) Mahatma Buddha(In the name of PRAGYA STHAL) and,  the statue of 2) Dr B R AMBEDKAR (Efforts towards social justice, equality, education & many more…),  3) VIVEKANANDA (Modernized Hinduism, introduced Vedanta and Yoga to the West, and catalyzed Indian nationalism & many more….) and  4) MAHATMA GANDHI(Non-violence, solidarity & many more…) (in the name of SADBHAVANA PARK) at our DSSW lawn. Today, the Department of Social Work, University of Delhi, in collaboration with Vrikshit Foundation has organised an "Wall Painting and Cleanliness Drive" Volunteers of Vrikshit Foundation and DSSW students have shown great enthusiasm and coloured the wall with their creative thoughts and art work. It's been a great honour to be a part of such a drive. Thanks to Vrikshit Foundation and our students for taking such initiatives and providing a platform to art and creativity.

As a part of “Gateway to India” program, we took the students of Northern Michigan University to Mandalgarh Village of Bhilwara district (Rajasthan) where they learnt about the projects of water conservation running under organisation Foundation for Ecological Security by attaching it with the indigenous knowledge system. Today we had the Valedictory Programme of the Exposure Visit of Northern Michigan University (USA) of 14 days: “Gateway To India: Culture, Community & Social Change”, was organised by Vishwa Yuvak Kendra in collaboration with the Department of Social Work, University of Delhi, at VYK on 6th March 2026.

All the participants engaged in round-table discussions and presentations, bringing together academia, field practitioners, and students to exchange experiences and perspectives on community development and social transformation which was experienced from the rural field of Rahasthan.

Paid homage to him by offering flowers to his huge portrait.Maharishi Valmiki paved the way for the people to follow truth, duty & dharma by incorporating the life story of Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram in the epic Ramayana. CThe UN Second World Summit for Social Development 2025, Doha concluded with wide international praise for its outcomes and results in terms of advancing social development globally and linking it to sustainable development.

At the closing session, the Summit reiterated its welcome of the Doha Political Declaration, which was adopted by the Conference. The Declaration emphasized the interconnectedness of eradicating poverty, providing decent work opportunities for all, and achieving social inclusion as essential elements for attaining sustainable development. It also provided significant impetus to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

It also promises to leave no one behind, end social injustice, and guarantee dignity for everyone.

Building on the 1995 Copenhagen Declaration, the Doha Declaration addresses contemporary challenges, including climate change, digital transformation, and demographic shifts.

Nearly 150 submissions from governments and organisations showcased innovative solutions for social protection, employment, and poverty reduction, many of which were featured in a “Solutions Studio” promoting practical, scalable actions.

LEPROSY: UNDERSTANDING THE DISEASE, DISMANTLING THE STIGMA. Distinguished guest, Dr. Ashok Agarwal, the Chief Executive Officer of NLR India with his team took the seesion.

Leprosy, as we know, is one of the oldest diseases known to humankind. Although it is completely curable, the stigma and social discrimination associated with it often persist, affecting individuals and families long after medical treatment is complete. The challenge before us, therefore, is not only medical but also deeply social and psychological. Today we, DSSW organised a documentary film exhibition cum interactive workshop on Autism at our department, “Swarth Se Pare - Illimitable Self" directed by my friend Mr Sourav Sarkar (Filmmaker/director - educator from Kolkata, working grossly with psycho - sociological films) to sensitize the students/ scholars and academic members on Autism, Society and Empathy on Differently Abled Individuals. We aim at generating an awareness and conscience on autistic individuals, as well as the vision of a model of an autism friendly campus solely dedicated for them.  The film thoroughly portrayed the vision of the person, who lived his life passionately to make an autism friendly campus in the outskirts of Hyderabad. At the same time, the film depicts the emotion, communication and unfathomable zeal of the autistic individuals, who are leading a life of dignity and love. The film dives deeper through the film, into the philosophy of dedicated service and empathy building through film medium, touching even the minute details of the unique life and feeling of the autistic inmates of the campus, as well as their guardians. It was experiential learning for the social work students / scholars. Thanks to Sourav Bhai 🙏
